Home Infusion Therapy

Home Infusion Theraphy is when medication is administered through a needle or catheter. Typical the drug is deliverd intravenously or by subcutaneous infusion. Home Infusion patients who recieve this type of service, usually have a severe condition and cannot be treated effectively by oral medications and need to recieve this theraphy in their home.

Total Parenteral
Nutrition (TPN)

Total Parenteral Nutrition or TPN is the medical term for infusing a specialized form of nutrient through a vein to treat or prevent malnutrition. TPN usually given to patients who cannot or should not get their nutrition through eating.

Depending on patients condition, TPN may include a combination of some parental form of

•Sugar and carbohydrates (for energy)
•Proteins (for muscles streght)
•Lipids (fat)
•Vitamins
•Electrolytes (sodium, potassium, chloride phosphate, calcium and magnesium)
•Trace elements (zinc, copper, manganese and chromium)

 

Advantages

TPN goal is to treat or prevent malnutrition. TPN typically used for people whose digestive systems either cannot absorb or cannot tolerate adequate food eaten by mouth.

Non-sterile compounding medications are safe and performed in a closely monitors environment using very strict rules and professional guidelines. They are prepared in a form of a pill to swallow, applied as a topical treatment to the skin or inserted under the skin
